Welcome to my website where I aim to share some information about homeopathy and about myself as a homeopath.

If you are new to homeopathy then I hope that the information on these pages will give you an introduction.

You are then very welcome to call me to have an informal chat about how homeopathy might be of benefit to you.

My practice is located in Binfield, near Bracknell in Berkshire which is within easy reach of Wokingham, Twyford, Ascot and the M4 and M3 motorways.

What is homeopathy?

Homeopathy is an effective system of treatment that assists the body in healing itself.  Homeopathic treatment considers the patient as a whole, rather than treating a named illness. The patient’s symptoms are discussed with the aim of finding the most similar homeopathic remedy.

Symptoms of ill health are seen as the body’s way of expressing disharmony, thus indicating where the body’s natural tendency to heal has become challenged and requires some assistance. I often think of this as being a little like the pendulum in a clock getting stuck:  the secret is to nudge the pendulum in the right direction with the correct amount of force to re-enable the flow of movement.

How are homeopathic remedies made?

Homeopathic remedies are largely made from natural substances such as plants and minerals. They are different to herbal remedies in that they are diluted and succussed (shaken) in order to create a potentised remedy. This method of creating remedies was developed by a German doctor called Samuel Hahnemann in 1796.  He realised, like Hippocrates had two thousand years earlier, that there are two different ways of treating ill health: the way of opposites (most commonly used in conventional medicine) and the way of similars (the basis for homeopathy).

The way of similars is sometimes referred to as treating ‘like with like’ and this is how homeopathic remedies are prescribed by a homeopath.  Take for example, a case of a rash that itches and burns and has a sensation of creeping along the skin.  A homeopath will endeavour to find a remedy that best matches these symptoms.

Homeopathic remedies, properly prescribed by a professional homeopath are safe and can be given to pregnant women, babies and children.[1]
